Director of the OPL Laboratory, he is an Associate Professor at the Industrial Engineering Department of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), which he headed (2019-2023).
He is a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Program in Modeling and Quantitative Methods, of the Department of Statistics and Applied Mathematics (DEMA/UFC), and an affiliated researcher at the Insight Data Science Lab , an artificial intelligence laboratory linked to the Department of Computing (UFC).
He is a co-founder of the startup ARVRA Inteligência Artificial.
His research interests include the application of artificial intelligence and operations research to problems in production, logistics, transportation, energy and health.
His research is funded by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq, by NVidia through its academic GPU grant program, and by Samsung Eletrônica do Brasil.
He has publications in high-impact international scientific journals, such as: Information Sciences, IEEE Sensors Journal, Energy, Applied Energy, EURO Journal on Computational Optimization, Networks and Spatial Economics, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Journal of Advanced Transportation, Artificial Intelligence for Transportation, among others.
